My name is Adam Tamariki and I am very proud to be serving as the Principal of Te Paina School. We are an amazing Year 1-8 rural school situated in the heart of the Mercer community. We have a fantastic team who are passionate about our tamariki and making learning fun and engaging. Our akonga are actively engaged in their learning journey. We encourage our students to explore, discover and lead their learning through hands on experiences and a range of learning opportunities. Please come and visit us at Te Paina. We would very much love to have you be a part of our learning community here at Te Paina School.

Kia Ora and Happy New Year Te Paina whaanau,
We hope you are all having a lovely summer break and enjoying the sunny weather.
Please note the St Peter's College Rowing Group have arrived at Te Paina and will be staying on school grounds from today until the end of day Saturday 17th January 2026. They have full access to the school pool while they are staying.
IMPORTANT NOTICE - It is disappointing to see the school pool gates were left open and pinned back when I arrived at the school to let the St Peter's team in. PLEASE NOTE if we continue to see these breaches of the school pool expectations, we will have no choice but to close the school pool for all after hours use. Please remember this is a privilege to the school community and we trust all of our members using the pool are those who have PAID for a school key and are using the pool correctly. Please make contact with the school if you notice anyone using the pool inappropriately.
Thank you for your co-operation and understanding. We appreciate your support.
Adam Tamariki
Tumuaki/ Principal
Kia Ora Te Paina whaanau,
It has come to our attention that the pool area and school grounds expectations are not being followed when the school pool is being used. Please be reminded this is a privilege to have a functioning school pool available for the community to enjoy. If we continue to find these expectations and rules being breached we will have no option but to close the pool and not have this facility open anymore during weekends and holiday seasons.
