ABOUT US

Nestled in a pretty valley close to Mercer village, approx 3 kilometres from SH1, Te Paina Primary School is situated in a picturesque rural setting.
Within this calming and inspiring location, our learning programs and sincere, caring teachers nurture our students and encourage them to experience learning success. Our highest measure of success is that the majority of our students love coming to school.

My name is Adam Tamariki and I am very proud to be serving as the Principal of Te Paina School. We are an amazing Year 1-8 rural school situated in the heart of the Mercer community. We have a fantastic team who are passionate about our tamariki and making learning fun and engaging. Our akonga are actively engaged in their learning journey. We encourage our students to explore, discover and lead their learning through hands on experiences and a range of learning opportunities. Please come and visit us at Te Paina. We would very much love to have you be a part of our learning community here at Te Paina School.

Kia Ora Te Paina Whannau

Welcome back to Term 3! It was great to see all our students return well-rested and ready to go. 

I would like to give a warm welcome to Whaea Ritea (working in Harakeke) and Whaea Michelle (working in Tuatoru) to Te Paina School! Please be sure to say hello and make them feel welcome if you see them around.

Just a reminder that our school cross country is this Friday at 1:00 pm. We ask that students bring a change of clothes in their house colours to change into at lunchtime for the event. We invite all our whaanau to come along and cheer on the runners if you are able!

If weather forces us to postpone, a Skool Loop notice will be sent out on Friday morning.

Kapa Haka

Just a reminder for the students performing tomorrow as part of our Kapa Haka group, we will meet outside the Meremere Community Hall at 10:30 am. Boys, please remember to bring a black T-shirt and black shorts. Girls, please wear your hair down.

Matua Adam's farewell assembly

Just a reminder that we will be holding Matua Adam's farewell assembly tomorrow at 9.30am all are welcome to attend. 

Following the assembly, we will be holding a shared morning tea to give everyone a chance to chat and say a personal goodbye. We kindly ask that families bring a plate of food to share if you are able to.

REMINDERS FOR WEEK 11 - LAST WEEK OF TERM 2

Firstly, what a great assembly hosted by Tuarua this morning! It was so lovely hearing about all the history you have been learning about this term! Thank you for sharing all of that insightful information with us. 

To the week ahead - the final week of the term is upon us and the holiday break is near... 

GENERAL REMINDERS:

  • Please remember children should be wearing jerseys or jackets that are BLUE or BLACK only to school. The school has a large amount of FREE jackets kindly provided to us by Kids Can. If you require a jacket, please ask your child's teacher or see Anne in the office on Monday or Wednesday this week. 
  • LOST PROPERTY - There is a large amount of lost property in the box. This box is now located in the breakout space near Tuatahi and Tuarua classrooms. If the weather is fine next week we will lay this out in front of the school office for you to look through at drop off and pick up times. 
  • Next week Whaea Haley and Whaea Cecilia will send out a 'Code of Conduct' with shared expectations about how we treat each other (Whaanau and Staff) moving forward at Te Paina School. This will be shared with all of the community and will be posted on our School Website. 

ANNOUNCEMENTS: 

  • New Teacher Harakeke - We have appointed Whaea Ritea who will be the new teacher starting in Harakeke in Term 3. She comes with a wealth of knowledge across the curriculum including Tikanga and Te Ao Maori. We are looking forward to her starting in this classroom.
  • New Teacher Tuatoru - Whaea Michelle (newly graduated student teacher in Harakeke) has accepted a fixed term position in Tuatoru for the remainder of the year. She has built strong relationships with our whaanau and kura and we know she'll do an awesome job with these learners. 
  • A formal Mihi Whakatau will take place in the first few weeks to formally welcome our new staff to the school.

  • Constable Varinder will be at school delivering a talk to Tuatoru and Harakeke classes about keeping safe online

WEDNESDAY

  • Year 7-8 Technology - last session for Term 1. Please remember closed toe shoes and girls need to have their hair tied back. 

THURSDAY

  • Come to school with a good attitude ready to learn and be happy! 
  • Houses Connections Day from 1:30pm - CHILDREN CAN WEAR HOUSE COLOURS ON THURSDAY 

FRIDAY 

  • Mid year reports will be sent home by the end of the day. 
  • Matua Adam's last day
  • SCHOOL CLOSES AT 1PM - Please ensure your children are collected on time as our staff will be unable to supervise after 1pm.
