ABOUT US

Nestled in a pretty valley close to Mercer village, approx 3 kilometres from SH1, Te Paina Primary School is situated in a picturesque rural setting.
Within this calming and inspiring location, our learning programs and sincere, caring teachers nurture our students and encourage them to experience learning success. Our highest measure of success is that the majority of our students love coming to school.

My name is Adam Tamariki and I am very proud to be serving as the Principal of Te Paina School. We are an amazing Year 1-8 rural school situated in the heart of the Mercer community. We have a fantastic team who are passionate about our tamariki and making learning fun and engaging. Our akonga are actively engaged in their learning journey. We encourage our students to explore, discover and lead their learning through hands on experiences and a range of learning opportunities. Please come and visit us at Te Paina. We would very much love to have you be a part of our learning community here at Te Paina School.

MID YEAR LEARNING JOURNEY MEETINGS - BOOKINGS OPEN

Kia Ora Te Paina whaanau, 

Bookings have now opened for our Mid year learning journey meetings taking place Tuesday 4th and Wednesday 5th August 2026 (Week 3 of next term). 

You can make a booking using the Skool Loop app. You can click on the 'Bookings' tab and follow the prompts. 

Please select the correct teacher for the classroom: 

Bonnie Holmes - Tuatahi classroom (New Entrants and Year 1) - bonnie@tepaina.school.nz

Shirley Ruhe - Tuarua classroom (Year 2,3 and 4) - shirley@tepaina.school.nz

Fiona Robertson - Tuatoru classroom (Year 4 and 5) - haley@tepaina.school.nz (yes please email Haley for this classroom at present)

Haley Christopher (with new teacher starting in Term 3) - (Year 6, 7 and 8) - haley@tepaina.school.nz

If you have any questions please email your child's teacher if you have any questions. 

Appointments will be available from 2:30pm through to the last one starting at 5:15pm and finishing at 5:30pm for both days. 

Please do make these meetings a priority so we can discuss your child's learning. By this time you will have received your child's mid year report of learning so these can be discussed as well. 

We look forward to meeting with you to celebrate and discuss your child's learning journey at Te Paina School.

Cross Country - NEW DATE - Friday 24th July at 1pm

Our School Cross Country will now take place on Friday 24th July at 1pm. Please change your saved dates in your diary as this will no longer take place next week as originally planned.

Help with Transport to school

Kia ora whaanau, 

 

We are still trying to find some help with transporting 2 students from the Meremere Village to School and back, each day. 

 

If you have spare seats in your car and are able to help with any morning drop offs or afternoon pick ups (even if it is just one or two days) - please let me know ASAP.

WEEK 9 - COMING UP THIS WEEK

Kia Ora Te Paina whaanau, 

Wow - we are at Week 9 already! A reminder we have this week and two more weeks after this week to go. This term is 11 weeks and we finish school on Friday 3rd July. 

Upcoming events and reminders for this week: 

Wednesday

  • Year 7-8 students are at Maramarua School for Technology 
  • Tuatoru students (including the Year 6 students in Harakeke) will be attending Trees for Survival Planting Day up Koheroa Road from the school. More information will be sent from Whaea Haley tomorrow to prepare for the day. Students need to be wearing closed toe shoes for both Technology and those attending the Tree Planting Day. We will let you know if there is a change in the day due to weather. 

Friday

  • WEAR YELLOW FOR HAROLD DAY - Students can wear anything yellow to support the work the Life Education Trust do in our schools across the country. Please bring a GOLD COIN donation to support the cause. Collections will be taken and we will send these on to the Life Ed Trust. 
  • Tuatoru class visit to the Mercer Museum tbc - Whaea Fiona is planning a visit for Tuatoru classroom down to the Mercer Museum during the day this Friday. As soon as details are finalised we will let those students know.

REMINDER - NATIONAL PJ DAY - Students can wear Pyjamas to school tomorrow!

Kia Ora all, 

Students can wear their favourite pyjamas to school tomorrow to celebrate National PJ Day. 

NO GOLD COIN DONATION REQUIRED - However, can we encourage you to donate a pair of pyjamas through the Kindness Collective at The Warehouse stores around the country? It's a good way to give to those in need if you can.
