My name is Adam Tamariki and I am very proud to be serving as the Principal of Te Paina School. We are an amazing Year 1-8 rural school situated in the heart of the Mercer community. We have a fantastic team who are passionate about our tamariki and making learning fun and engaging. Our akonga are actively engaged in their learning journey. We encourage our students to explore, discover and lead their learning through hands on experiences and a range of learning opportunities. Please come and visit us at Te Paina. We would very much love to have you be a part of our learning community here at Te Paina School.

We are absolutely thrilled to share some wonderful news with our school community!
Matua Adam and his wife Eseta, have welcomed a beautiful baby girl into the world! She arrived on Wednesday 20 May at 10.46pm and both mum and baby are doing fantastic.
We know you join us in sending our warmest congratulations and best wishes.

We are noticing an increase in students wanting to leave class to get a drink. Something that would really help would be children having a FILLED water bottle in the morning when they come to school.
Please help us to encourage this by sending your child to school every day with a filled water bottle to keep them hydrated in class.

The Board of Trustees have met last night and have made a decision for the remainder of 2026.
Whaea Haley has accepted the role of Acting Principal for the rest of this year. We know she will be absolutely amazing in this role and we know you as a community will support her in this next stage of her career.
We are so excited to share this news with the community today. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate the next steps for Te Paina School

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Te Paina will not be able to attend the Year 5-6 Rippa on Thursday 7th May as published in our latest newsletter. We apologise for any inconvenience.
The students will have another opportunity later in the year when the East Group tournament takes place.
